Despite being largely out of films since 2018 due to sexual harassment allegations, it appears that James Franco is still holding his own. The actor has now been cast in the lead role in the upcoming crime drama Mace.
No, this is not a Western or an independent film. Hollywood veteran John Amiel (The Trap, The Man Who Knew Too Little, American Gods) directs the film.
The plot of Mace revolves around two police officers: Mace, who is corrupt and slightly insane, and Virgil Woods, a young rookie who believes he can change the system. As he takes on a corrupt colleague, Woods refuses to be bullied. To cover up his crimes, Mays starts a gang war, and Woods risks everything he believes in to stop him from destroying the city.
The film is currently in pre-production, with shooting set to begin later this year.
Franco gave an extensive interview at the end of last year, which his “victims” did not appreciate.
