Sony presented its financial report to investors on March 31, summarizing the results of the fiscal year 2021, which ended a month and a half ago on March 31.
According to this report, the manufacturer managed to ship 19.3 million copies of the new PlayStation 5 console, which was a lower figure than the 3.3 million shipped during the same time period the previous financial year, indicating a 1.3% drop in shipments. The PlayStation 4 has sold over 117.2 million units worldwide.
The number of PS Plus subscribers fell to 47.4 million at the end of the reporting period, down from 47.6 million a year earlier.
But it is in game sales that progress is most visible: in the fourth quarter of the financial year alone, game circulation reached 70.5 million copies, up 9.1 million from the previous year. The number of exclusives in this group was 14.5 million. For the entire year, over 303.2 million PS4 and PS5 copies were sold, with 43.9 million being exclusives.
