David Anfossi, the head of Eidos Montreal, mentioned in a recent presentation of his team in front of the Swedish holding Embracer Group that his studio is working on multiple games on the Unreal Engine 5 engine at the same time.
According to him, the move from a proprietary engine to the mainstream and user-friendly Unreal Engine will allow Eidos Montreal to focus entirely on the creative aspect, rather than being distracted by technical issues.
EIdos Montreal, according to Anfossi, currently employs 442 people across four creative teams. They are all based in Montreal and do not work from home.
It’s difficult to say what Eidos Montreal’s first game will be now that it’s under the Embracer Group’s wing. “The home of franchises like Thief and Deus Ex,” Anfossi said during his presentation. Is there a clue?
Lars Vingefors, the director of Embracer Group, spoke next, emphasizing that EIdos Montreal and Crystal Dynamics are working on an exciting new game line. “Significant AAA-projects,” he claims, will be included.
Remember thаt Crystаl Dynаmics is currently working on а new Tomb Rаider gаme using the Unreаl Engine 5, аs well.
