Police have cordoned off the building and surrounding roads after a body was discovered near a primary school.


Officers remain at Lilybank Road and Glenpark Drive today (Friday), according to local reports. A local school has also been affected by the road closure.

It comes after reports that a man was found injured on the street in the early hours of the morning.

Emergency services were called to the scene, but the man died, according to police.

“Officers received a report of a man being found injured in the lane between Lilybank Road and Glenburn Street in Port Glasgow around 12.40am on Friday, 6 May 2022,” said Detective Inspector Nicola Wake of Greenock CID in a statement.

“Emergency services were dispatched, and the man was pronounced dead on the spot.”

“The death is being treated as unexplained, and investigations into the full circumstances are ongoing.”

“Anyone with information about this incident should call Greenock CID on 101 and quote incident number 0095 from May 6.”
