Nintendo Switch continues to rule the charts in Japan, but the PS5 and Xbox Series S also do well.

Nintendo Switch had another strong week in Japan, selling a total of 176,592 units across the three models available. However, let’s look at the PS5 and Xbox Series data, particularly the S model.

Sales of software (week of April 25 to May 8, 2022)

Sales of hardware (week of April 25 to May 8, 2022)

Sony’s consoles have sold 49,798 units, while the new Xbox has sold 14,118, with more than 10,000 of those being the cheapest model. Of course, these are far lower sales than the competition, but they are still impressive given Xbox’s difficulties in Japan.

With 304,588 units sold, Nintendo Switch Sports has taken the top spot in terms of software. It’s likely to become Nintendo’s next million-dollar hit. Kirby and the Forgotten Land is next, followed by eBASEBALL Powerful Pro Baseball 2022, both for Nintendo Switch. The PS4 version of eBASEBALL Powerful Pro Baseball 2022, which is ranked fifth, is the only non-Switch game in the top ten.
