Netflix may launch a low-cost ad-supported subscription in late 2022.

Netflix plans to launch a low-cost tariff plan with ads in the fourth quarter of 2022, according to the New York Times, citing its own sources.

Netflix co-founder and CEO Reed Hastings stated in a recent quarterly report that he intends to add such a subscription option over the next two years, but they have now decided to push the idea through.

According to the New York Times, Netflix will crack down on account sharing around the same time. The streaming service isn’t the first to criticize users who save money by sharing accounts with others.
