According to reporter Tom Warren, Microsoft decided to double the budget for salary increases. In addition, for most employees, the annual availability of shares will be increased. The goal is to keep talent from leaving, which means keeping the attraction rate below 10%.
The initiative, which is certainly commendable, arose from the personnel bleed that occurred last year. Many employees have moved on to other companies, such as Facebook. Much of the management of the Hololense division, in particular, left, including some Microsoft veterans with more than two decades of experience.
In fact, Microsoft wants to remain attractive to potential employees while also ensuring that current employees are less motivated to leave. It’s worth noting that the news applies to the entire company and thus isn’t specific to the Xbox division. However, we expect the increases to affect developers as well.
