Need For Speed 3 locations are transferred to Unreal Engine 5 with modern effects: video

David Kerekes, a Hungarian developer, is attempting to port Need For Speed 3 Hot Pursuit tracks to Unreal Engine 5. The tracks are being ported to UE5 with new special effects and original assets.

As a result, with modern global illumination and relatively normal physics, you can rush through locations from 24 years ago.

David now has two tracks, Hometown and Atlantica, that are nearly finished. The developer shows not only the tracks themselves, but also the process of porting them to Unreal Engine: old maps work well.

An interesting point: you can see the shadow of the sports car lagging behind the car from time to time during the race. The issue is most likely in the lighting and shading settings; no similar issues have been reported in other projects using the same engine. However, everything is in order thanks to the reflections on the Atlantica map.
