Lib Dem Layla Moran urges Boris to give in to the EU over Protocol.
The DUP and Conservative Party, according to Lib Dem MP Moran, are to blame for the current issues surrounding the Northern Ireland Protocol. Many Unionists in Northern Ireland are concerned about higher costs and their constitutional status within the UK as a result of the Protocol’s trading mechanisms. Ms Moran faced Mr Wilson of the DUP, who is a staunch opponent of the Protocol in its current form.
“The reason this is happening is because of the choices the Conservative Party and the DUP made about what type of Brexit they wanted,” Ms Moran told BBC Politics Live.
“There was always going to be a border once they decided they wanted the hardest of hard Brexits.”
“As a result of that, there were going to be checks.”
“That’s where we are now, and they signed that contract.”
