As the Democratic Unionist Party (DUP) continues to cite the protocol in its refusal to form a power-sharing executive with Sinn Fein, he urged the Prime Minister to “do the right thing.”
Former ministers have warned that enacting legislation to unilaterally override the protocol would be illegal and risk triggering a trade war with the EU at a time when the UK is experiencing financial instability.
