Greenpeace BLOCKS a 33,000-tonne shipment of Russian diesel in Grays, Essex, causing protest chaos.

Essex Police said they were called to the Oliver Road location shortly after 11 p.m. last night (Sunday). A number of others are being rescued by the force and its partners. Officers are “currently working to quickly and safely resolve the situation.” This is hoped to be resolved “safely and quickly.”

“We were called to the site in Oliver Road shortly after 11.05pm yesterday (Sunday 15 May),” Essex Police said in a statement.

“We’ve arrested eight people on suspicion of aggravated trespass so far, and we’re working with our partners to bring a number of others to safety.”

“Our officers are currently working to quickly and safely resolve the situation.”

“Policing is not anti-protest, but we must intervene when lives are at risk or when laws are suspected to be broken.”

“We’re hoping for a safe and quick resolution so that our officers can return to protecting and serving the people of Essex.”
