After five years at Obsidian, the writer of The Outer Worlds and Pillars of Eternity 2 has decided to leave.


Kate Dollarhyde, Obsidian Entertainment’s lead narrative designer, has announced her departure after five years with the company. Kate is the author of The Outer Worlds, the Peril on Gorgon add-on, and Pillars of Eternity 2: Deadfire, among other games.

Dollarhyde has also won a Nebula Award and a GLAAD Media Award. The first prize is given for the best work in the science fiction or fantasy genre, and the second prize is given for outstanding representation of the LGBT community and issues that affect its members’ lives.

On Leaving Obsidian Dollarhide informedOn May 11th, he posted on Twitter. She’ll then work on personal creative projects.

The studio is currently working on Avowed, a fantasy RPG, a sequel to The Outer Worlds, a multiplayer Grounded, and Pentiment, an RPG being developed by the team behind Fallout: New Vegas director Josh Sawyer.
