A fan creates a working Nintendo 64 remake of Portal.

What exactly is the issue with modern remakes? They only show how games may appear on older consoles, but they almost never optimize them for those devices.

James Lambert, a programmer, went the other way. He decided to create a true remake of Portal for the Nintendo 64 system. He shows the finished prototype with a working portal gun in the video.

He managed to bring the portal gun to life in less than a month, and he has already completed 14 “layers” of portals on the console. On the Nintendo 64, the farthest portals resemble a couple of pixels.

James’ channel will keep you updated on the game’s progress. He’ll most likely start transferring levels from the game to the console soon, as well as continuing to put its capabilities to the test.

The Nintendo 64 wаs releаsed in 1996 аnd hаs а processor thаt runs аt 93.75 MHz.
